Librarians Without Borders- McGill Student Chapter (LWB)

McGill Librarians Without Borders is one chapter of the namesake non-profit organization which endeavours to provide people access to information resources regardless of language, geography, or religion, by forming partnerships with community organizations in developing areas. Our vision is to build sustainable libraries and support their advocates — librarians. It is run by student committees at six universities in Canada and also a volunteer Executive Team and Board of Directors. Our LWB chapter holds several fundraising events throughout the school year, including our Library School Social, which will be taking place on September 11th 2014. Some of our major projects have included purchasing books for a school in Guatemala, and sending library students to the school to develop a library and create programming for the institution.  We also maintain a strong partnership with the Native Friendship Centre of Montreal, where we help with cataloguing, running workshops and collection development.
